Double Chin Slimming Aftercare: First 72 Hours to Protect Results image

The single most important rule after Double Chin Slimming is simple: keep the area cool and calm for the first 72 hours. Expect mild-to-moderate swelling, numbness, and sometimes bruising, especially in our Wesley Chapel heat where sweat and irritation can sneak up fast. Our Double Chin Slimming session is non-invasive, about 45 minutes, and it’s designed to support a more defined look without a long downtime. Your results depend a lot on what you do next, so we’re going to keep this practical and time-based.

0 to 24 hours: ice cycles, no heat, and don’t “test” the area

Right after your Double Chin Slimming appointment, your skin can feel cold, tingly, or a little numb. That’s normal. What we generally recommend is treating the first day like a “quiet day” for your neck and under-chin area.

Do this today

  • Ice intermittently: 10 to 15 minutes on, then at least 20 minutes off. Use a soft cloth barrier so you don’t irritate the skin.
  • Keep cleansing gentle: lukewarm water, light pressure, pat dry.
  • Sleep with your head elevated tonight. Two pillows or a wedge helps keep swelling down.
  • Hydrate: plenty of water tends to help you feel better overall after cryo-based sessions.

Skip heat sources today and tomorrow. That means no sauna, no steam room, no hot yoga, and keep showers comfortably warm instead of hot. Heat and sweat can make the area feel more puffy or irritated, and in Wesley Chapel’s humid subtropical weather it’s easy to overdo it without realizing.

Also, don’t aggressively rub or massage the area unless we specifically tell you to. People sometimes “check” the area by pressing on it. That can stir up more swelling.

24 to 72 hours: swelling usually peaks here, so keep it boring

Days 2 and 3 are where a lot of people notice the most swelling or tenderness. It’s not usually dramatic, but it can feel “full” under the chin. Keep icing as needed, keep your sleep elevated, and keep heat off the area.

Activity specifics clients ask us about

  • Exercise: We generally recommend avoiding heavy workouts for 48 to 72 hours. Light walking is fine if it doesn’t get you sweaty.
  • Makeup: If you had treatment close to the jawline or lower face, keep makeup off the treated skin for the rest of the day. If you return to makeup the next day, apply with clean hands and a clean brush or sponge.
  • Shaving and facial hair grooming: Give it at least 24 hours if you can. If your skin feels sensitive, wait 48 hours.
  • Flying: Most people do fine, but if you swell easily, schedule treatment a few days before travel. If you’re unsure, call us and we’ll talk it through.
  • Swimming and saunas: Hold off until at least 72 hours. Pools, hot tubs, and steam can irritate the skin and raise swelling.

Quick comfort tip: Avoid tight collars, high-neck shapewear, or anything that presses under the chin. Constant friction can make swelling linger.

1 week and 4 to 6 weeks: what “normal” looks like as your contour settles

By the end of the first week, most people notice the day-to-day swelling has eased. If you had bruising, it usually fades gradually. Numbness can hang around longer, and that’s not automatically a problem. It tends to taper off as your skin calms down.

For the first week, keep avoiding heat-heavy habits that flood the area, especially if you’re outside a lot. Our Florida weather is no joke, and sweat under the chin can rub the skin raw faster than you’d think. If you can, schedule sessions on cooler days or plan to stay indoors for a few hours after your appointment.

At the 4 to 6 week mark, a lot of people start feeling like the change looks more “real” in photos. That’s also when we like to check in if you’re stacking sessions, because we can look at how your tissue responded and talk about spacing.

Why this matters: One of our CryoSkin regulars told us they noticed their face looked “smoother, tighter” after face sessions. Aftercare is what keeps your skin calm enough to show that tightening effect instead of staying puffy.

Products and daily habits that protect face slimming results

Keep your routine simple for several days. Your goal is calm skin and steady hydration, not “fixing” things with aggressive products.

Our go-to routine types (no fancy product list required)

  • Gentle cleanser once or twice a day, no scrubs, no exfoliating acids for a few days.
  • Simple moisturizer to prevent dryness and rubbing. Dry skin tends to feel itchier, and itch leads to touching.
  • SPF if the treated area is exposed. Sun and heat are a rough combo for healing skin.
  • Water plus steady meals. A CryoSlimming client of ours saw lasting changes when they kept up with water, healthy eating habits, and workouts once it was appropriate to return.

And if you know you run warm, plan around it. In the Wiregrass Ranch and The Grove area, quick errands around SR 56 and Bruce B. Downs often turn into a sweaty afternoon. Try to keep your first 72 hours low-heat so you don’t irritate the treated skin.

When to call us (and what’s normal vs not)

Mild swelling, numbness, tenderness, and light bruising can all be normal after Double Chin Slimming. What we don’t want you doing is waiting it out if something feels like it’s getting worse instead of better.

Call CRY-X the same day if you notice:

  • Worsening pain that doesn’t settle with rest and cooling
  • Increasing warmth, spreading redness, or redness that looks angry
  • Fever or feeling sick
  • Any drainage that keeps coming back

"The guy up front was super helpful, he was really friendly, and he made sure I had water and felt great after my session before I left."
