SubZero aftercare checklist for the first 48 hours after a SubZero cryotherapy session in Wesley Chapel

The most important SubZero aftercare rule is simple: get warm, stay dry, and hydrate right away. SubZero is a quick 5-minute high-pressure CO2 session we use for fast pain relief and healing, so the way you handle the first couple hours matters. Here in Wesley Chapel, Florida heat and humidity can fool you into thinking you’re fine, then you realize you’re dehydrated later. Keep this checklist handy and you’ll protect your result without adding another thing to your day.

Your 0 to 48-hour SubZero checklist (the stuff that actually protects results)

Most people feel ready to hop right back into life after SubZero. That’s fine, as long as you follow a few non-negotiables.

First 0 to 2 hours: Dry off completely, change into warm dry clothing, and start rehydrating right away. A water bottle in the car helps, especially if you’re heading back out on SR 56 or Bruce B. Downs.

For the first 24 to 48 hours, skip intense heat. We generally recommend avoiding hot baths, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and any “bake it out” heat exposure. That includes sitting in a hot car for a long stretch if you can help it. If you’re running errands at The Shops at Wiregrass, bring a light layer so you’re not going straight from cold exposure into full Florida heat.

Don’t deep massage the treated area for at least 12 to 24 hours. Gentle touch is fine. We’re talking about no hard pressure, no aggressive foam rolling, and no deep tissue work on the exact spot you just treated. Give the area a little quiet time.

Activity is usually fine, then build. Light movement tends to be okay for most people. Wait 12 to 24 hours before intense workouts, and if you did a targeted/local session for a specific spot, ask our team before you go all-in at the gym.

The first week after SubZero: keep the momentum without overdoing it

If you’re doing SubZero for pain relief, inflammation, or recovery, the first week is where we see patterns. People feel better and then they push too hard too fast. We’d rather you stack small wins.

Stick with the boring basics

  • Hydrate daily, not just the day of your session. Florida humidity makes this easy to underestimate.
  • Keep your normal movement going. A walk or gentle mobility work often beats a “prove it” workout the next morning.
  • If you’re sore, use simple comfort measures like rest and light stretching. Hold off on digging into the treated area.

Watch your skin, especially after targeted sessions

You might notice temporary numbness, tingling, or redness right after cold exposure. That typically settles. What we don’t want you to ignore is skin that looks worse over time instead of better. If anything feels off, send us a message or call before you “wait it out.”

Creams, gels, and everyday habits that play nice with SubZero

Keep it simple for the first day. If you’re using topical products on the area we treated, we generally recommend waiting until your skin feels completely normal again and you’re sure there’s no irritation.

Rule of thumb: If the product is “hot” (menthol, capsaicin, strong essential oils) or you usually feel a tingle, skip it for at least 24 hours and ask us first.

  • Use fragrance-free, gentle skincare if you need something on the area.
  • Choose breathable, dry clothing after your session. A quick change of shirt can make a real difference if you’re heading back to work in Wesley Chapel.
  • Plan your heat exposure. If you know you’ll be outside for a while, do SubZero after, not before.

What’s normal after SubZero vs. what means you should call us

A lot of people leave feeling energized and “awake, ” especially after a strong cold session. Mild numbness or temporary skin color change can happen, and it often resolves as you warm up. We’re more concerned when something hangs around or escalates.

Reach out promptly if you notice prolonged numbness, blistering, severe pain, or other unusual skin changes.

If you’re coming in from Land O’ Lakes, Lutz, New Tampa, Zephyrhills, or Dade City, don’t worry about “bothering us.” We’d rather answer a quick question than have you guessing on the drive home.

"The guy up front was super helpful, he was really friendly, and he made sure I had water and felt great after my session before I left."

Quick SubZero aftercare reminder for busy Wesley Chapel days

Bring a water bottle. Bring a dry shirt if you sweat easily in Florida humidity. Stay away from high heat for 24 to 48 hours. And don’t dig into the treated area with deep massage for at least 12 to 24 hours. If something doesn’t feel right, call us. We’re right off SR 56 and Bruce B. Downs, so it’s easy to swing back in if you need us.
